Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Feast Day: September 8

The birthday celebration of the Blessed Mother comes, appropriately, exactly nine months after the Feast of her Immaculate Conception.

Just as the angels celebrated Mary’s birth as the “dawn of salvation,” we too rejoice in the promises whispered by the birth of Mary.

Blessed are you, holy Virgin Mary, deserving of all praise;
from you rose the sun of justice, Christ our God.

At the Mothers’ Shrine we are celebrating our Blessed Mother’s birthday with Holy Mass, followed by a Procession and Marian Hymns, and concluding with a light reception.

Our community offered a spiritual bouquet of devotional acts and prayers, along with candles from financial contributors, and prayer intentions from all our friends of the Mothers’ Shrine.

Even with the refreshing outside breeze on this beautiful feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the votive birthday candle was still burning brightly through the afternoon. The candle was made from the wax of many smaller birthday candles that were returned by friends of the Shrine near and far.

We will continue to offer all of their intentions, birthday wishes and tributes of love to our Blessed Mother throughout the month of September.
