“His love is greater than what we’re feeling”

Catholic speaker, Jennifer Hubbard, delivers message of hope

Jennifer Hubbard brought a message of Christian hope to those who attended a luncheon Oct. 1 at The National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church.  “Sometimes, we forget that God is bigger than our emotions, and his love is greater than what we’re feeling, and he just wants us to be completely authentic and completely true,” she told the crowd.

Hubbard, whose child was killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, told a rapt audience at the Mothers’ Shrine that God is capable of holding all our grief and pain. “I feel sometimes when we hold our emotions because we think God can’t handle it, we’re putting ourselves at a higher level than God,” she said. “He wants it all. Sometimes, it isn’t pretty and makes us vulnerable. But sometimes, it’s where He hears us the best.”

Following the luncheon, Hubbard signed copies of her book, Finding Sanctuary, for attendees. Gary Slater, Interim CEO of the Mothers’ Shrine, presented Hubbard with a golden certificate representing her newly engraved name on the Mothers’ Wall of Life.
